About the Stars

The Stars won their third straight game and improved to 5-1-1 in their last seven games with a 2-1 win in St. Louis Saturday night. It completed a weekend home-and-home sweep of the Blues and in both games the Stars rallied in the third period to win the game. Kari Lehtonen made 35 saves in Saturday’s game and Jamie Benn and Loui Eriksson scored third period goal as the Stars overcame a 1-0 deficit.

“Our goalie played well in that first period, especially. I thought our best period was the last one and that’s what we needed it to be,” said Stars coach Marc Crawford. “For our club, probably the most gratifying thing for this victory is that we had contributions from a lot of people tonight.”

The Stars have won two straight on the road, both by 2-1 scores.

Lehtonen will likely start in goal Monday.

Injuries:  RW Krys Barch (foot) and D Mark Fistric (groin) are out.

About the Hurricanes

The Hurricanes are coming off a 3-2 shootout loss in Washington on Sunday. Carolina fell behind 2-0 in the first period but rallied to tie the game and force overtime. Cam Ward made 38 saves and Erik Cole and Erik Staal scored for the Hurricanes.

“The first period wasn’t our best. We came out a little sluggish,” said Staal. “But we got our legs in the second, battled back against a good team and managed to point out it. But it would have been nice to get a win.”

Three of the Hurricanes’ last five games have gone to a shootout, and they’ve come up short in each one.

Injuries:  No significant injuries.
