By Mark Stepneski
Stars goaltending prospect Jack Campbell stopped all 14 shots he faced as Team USA beat Germany, 4-0, Thursday night to improve to 3-0 at the World Junior Championship in Buffalo, New York.
Campbell played 50:27 before backup Andy Iles was put in to play the final half of the third period for the Americans.
Campbell, who has stopped 63 of the 66 shots he has faced in three games, is now 3-0-0 and leads the tournament with a 1.04 goals-against average and a .955 save percentage.
Team USA plays its final game of the preliminary round Friday against Switzerland.
Stars defense prospects Patrik Nemeth and John Klingberg did not factor in the scoring and both players were even in Sweden’s 6-3 victory over Czech Republic Thursday.
Sweden (3-0) plays Canada (3-0) in the final game of the preliminary round Friday, and the winner will take first place in Group B and get an automatic berth in the semifinals.
