Stars place Brandon Segal on waivers
By Mark Stepneski
The Dallas Stars have placed right wing Brandon Segal on waivers. If he clears Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. then the Stars will send him to the Texas Stars of the AHL.
With the acquisition of right wing Jamie Langenbrunner from New Jersey last week the Stars now have 14 forwards on the roster.
“We don’t want to carry 14 and we want Brandon to play too,” said Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk.
Segal is on a two-way contract and makes $550,000 when the plays in the NHL and $130,000 at the AHL level.
Segal, who has 9 points (4 goals, 5 assists) in 36 games this season, was claimed off waivers by the Stars from the Los Angeles Kings last season.
