Benn and Wandell out, Gagnon and Morin in
By Mark Stepneski
Stars forwards Jamie Benn and Tom Wandell are out tonight with undisclosed injuries. Forwards Aaron Gagnon and Travis Morin, called up yesterday from the AHL, will be in the lineup.
There is no real update on Benn and Wandell today other than they are out.
"We'll probably have more tonight. We're hopeful that they won't be too serious, but they are serious enough that those two players are out of the lineup," said Stars coach Marc Crawford.
Crawford still didn't reveal what the injuries are, but he was willing to rule out previous injuries that both players have had.
"Benn doesn't have a concussion and Wandell hasn't hurt his knee," he said.
Morin, 27, makes his NHL debut tonight. He's spent six years in both the ECHL and AHL.
"I was stuck in the ECHL for a while," Morin said after the morning skate. "The first couple years I really didn't know if I'd get a shot in the AHL, and I really didn't know how I'd do there. Finally got a shot there and got comfortable. I am going to try to do the same thing here and try to keep it simple."
Just a reminder: Tonight's start time is a 6:30 p.m. due to the the game being carried on Canadian television as well as Fox Sports Southwest.
