The Stars officially announced expected roster moves this afternoon, including recalling Francis Wathier from the Texas, sending Toby Petersen to the AHL on a conditioning assignment and placing Ray Sawada on injured reserve. Here's the release from the team:
The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has assigned forward Toby Petersen for a conditioning assignment with the Texas Stars, Dallas’ primary affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). The team also placed forward Raymond Sawada on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, retroactive to Feb. 3, and have recalled forward Francis Wathier from the Texas Stars.
Petersen, 32, suffered a lower-body injury in the beginning of January. He has skated in 34 games this season for Dallas, collecting one goal (shorthanded) and two assists with six penalty minutes. The Minneapolis, Minn. native set a new career-high in goals last season with nine. Petersen has played in 177 games over four seasons with Dallas, recording 32 points (14g, 18a).
Sawada, 25, suffered a shoulder injury in his only game with Dallas this season. In 11 career NHL games, Sawada has recorded one goal and five shots. He has played in 36 games for Texas this season, collecting 17 points (7g, 10a). Last season the 6-2, 207-pound right wing helped the Texas Stars reach the Calder Cup Finals in the club’s inaugural season, accruing eight points (3g, 5a) in 24 playoff games and 19 points (8g, 11a) in 60 regular season games. The Richmond, British Columbia, native was selected by Dallas in the second round (52nd overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Wathier, 26, has appeared in three games for Dallas this season. He has also played in 45 AHL games for Texas, recording 24 points (13 goals, 11 assists). Wathier represented Texas at the AHL All-Star Game on Jan. 31 in Hershey, Penn. The 6-3, 208-pound winger was Dallas’ sixth round selection (185th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
