Saturday tidbits: Brad Richards and the C-word
By Mark Stepneski
The Stars have been not said much about the specifics of the injury keeping Brad Richards out of action, leaving people to speculate about what it might be. But coach Marc Crawford finally used the C-word (concussion-like symptoms) when referring to what ails Richards, according to the Vancouver Sun.
“No, we’ve categorized it. Nobody wants to say the word, but he’s got concussion-like symptoms, and we’re being real careful. He’s doing his baseline testing, I think, today,” Crawford told the Sun on Friday.
Richards was injured in the final minute of Sunday's game against Columbus when he was hit in the neutral zone by Blue Jackets forward Samuel Pahlsson.
Below is the video of the hit.
The Stars moved up one spot in the Western Conference Friday night, climbing to sixth place after Minnesota beat Anaheim 5-1. The Ducks fell to eighth in the conference. The Stars and Ducks are still tied at 68 points and the movement is a tiebreaker thing. Those tiebreakers could end up being important and the end of the season the way things are shaping up.
It’s not all good news though. Minnesota, which is in tenth place in the conference, is at 67 points and just one point behind the Stars and the other three team at 68 points.
Games to keep an eye on tonight: Los Angeles at New York Islanders; Anaheim at St. Louis; Phoenix at Nashville; Colorado at San Jose.
