The Dallas Stars suffered their first loss of the preseason, falling 3-0 to the Avalanche at Colorado Sunday evening. The Stars are now 3-1-0 in preseason play.

Richard Bachman got the start in goal for Dallas, played the entire game and stopped 28 of 31 shots. The Stars had only 16 shots against Avalanche goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere, who went the distance and picked up the shutout.

The Avalanche outshot the Stars 13-7 in the first period and took a 1-0 lead on a Ryan Stoa power play goal at the 11:16 mark.

“With the lineup they had, it was a pretty good line up,” Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said. “We knew they were going to come out with pace. It’s a good learner for our D and our young guys. It gives our scouts a look at guys in a pacey, pacey game.”

"They got an early power play goal and were playing with a little more pace than we did in the first period," said Dallas defenseman Philip Larsen. "I think we got better as the game went on and tried to come back. They played well defensively. It was a tough game."

Ryan O'Reilly scored twice in the second period to round out the scoring for the Avalanche.

The Stars practice in Frisco Monday and Tuesday before playing at Florida Tuesday night. Their next home preseason game is Thursday against Florida.
