Here are some postgame quotes following the Dallas Stars’ 4-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild Friday night.

Stars coach Glen Gulutzan

“It was nice to get the win at home. We came out and made a few good plays and it was nice to get the win. We need the points.”

Gulutzan on Kari Lehtonen

“Too bad (Kari Lehtonen) didn’t get his shutout. It was a really weak five-on-three call. The explanation we got (on the abuse of officials call against the bench) was not the truth. It should have never been a five-on-three. I really wish it wasn't because he was going for back-to-back shutouts. The explanation we got for the penalty wasn’t the truth.”

Gulutzan on getting goals from three different lines

“We need it. We need scoring from all lines and we need it in all different ways, not just skill plays but getting pucks to the net and bodies to the net. It’s encouraging. Going down the stretch if you are getting contributions from everybody then everybody gets a little bit more confident.”

Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen on his recent play

“I don’t know. When you play a lot you get more comfortable. You still never know how the game is going to go, you just have to go out there and try hard, hope you get a couple of bounces and usually that helps the team the most.”

Lehtonen on the Stars winning three games in a row for the first time since December

“We’ve been talking about that for a month, get some wins put together and we’re finally doing it. It’s an interesting time of the year. Every game of the year is so important and we’re having fun.”

Lehtonen on the Stars getting into penalty trouble in the third period

“I don’t think it’s a Stars game if we don’t make it a little hairy. That’s what we do.”

Stars forward Eric Nystrom on winning the second game of a back-to-back for the first time this season

“That was a long time coming, we were due to get it eventually and there’s no excuses tonight. They played back-to-back also, and one of their top guys is out, one of our top guys is out, and we just came in here and head-to-head, just played our game and ended up coming out on top. It’s huge.”

Wild coach Mike Yeo

“Yeah, we had maybe five chances five-on-five tonight. Our execution was really bad tonight. You look at how many five to 10-foot passes we could not make, we couldn’t connect on and everything just seemed to be a broken play. After the second period, we were in the coaches’ office saying how many times we had a forecheck where we’ve come through the neutral zone and we’ve got five-man forecheck or three fours going in with the forecheck. It seemed like every time we finally got the puck out of our zone and got the puck in their zone, we had maybe one guy going and the other two guys were going to change. We weren’t together all night.”

Here are some postgame quotes following the Dallas Stars 2-1 shootout victory over the Minnesota Wild Saturday night.

Stars coach Glen Gulutzan

“We relied on our goalie a lot. We have to be better. I’m ecstatic about the two points and it’s going to help us, but we have a different level we need to get to.”

Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen on the game

“It was a nice, tight game. They got a few chances, I made some saves and was lucky a couple times. I think our penalty kill was really good, too. That helped us. Overall, it was a fun game for me, lots of shots and two points at the end.”

Stars forward Eric Nystrom on special teams play

“The power play has scored in three straight games, which is huge. Before that we were struggling a little bit. This is a good time for them to get confident. They scored some big goals for us, like tonight. It was our only goal we got and that’s huge. The penalty killing, same thing. It had a big stop in overtime by some guys making some gutsy plays and battling hard as they could. That’s a big difference for us and special teams is so key.”

Wild coach Mike Yeo on the game

“That was a good game. Both teams played well. It was fast. It was hard hitting. Especially five-on-five, I thought we were really strong. So it’s a shame to not come out of here with two points, but still a lot of positives.”
