|"Nicklas has adjusted very well to the OHL. His puck-handling and play-making ability are excellent. He has an excellent wrist shot that he gets off quickly." - Chris Edwards, NHL Central Scouting
"His potential is off the charts. He is showing a lot more quickness and speed and has always shown a real understanding of the game. ... While displaying the ability to produce offensively, he plays an overall responsible game. He shows no hesitation playing in all the tough and ugly areas of the ice and is very effective in the high traffic areas while showing a willingness to take a hit to make a play. He displays a real touch when he has the puck. His balance and ability to protect the puck are outstanding." - International Scouting Services 2011 Draft Guide
"Based on pure size/skills combination alone, he's a top 12 pick. Great sized frame to fill out; he needs to add muscle in order to battle more effectively. Has a long way to go with regard to work ethic, though. Soft and often uninvolved to the point where you can't find him with a microscope. But when he dials up the intensity, watch out! Can be a gamebreaker with a great release on a wicked wrister. ... Creates time and space himself with great puckhandling ability. Super soft hands. Can score in a variety of ways and regularly beats defenders off the rush. Needs LOTS of work on his compete level and play away from puck." - Red Line Report 2011 Draft Guide
