Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus was named to the 2009 Topps Major League Rookie All-Star team. He was also selected as the Larry Doby Award winner in the American League by the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. The award honors a rookie of the year in each league.
Andrus, who hit .267 with six homers and 40 RBIs and had 33 stolen bases, is the 13th Rangers player to be on the Topps Rookie All-Star team. Outfielder David Murphy was on the team last year.
Andrus is playing in the Venezuelan Winter League and was 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs in his debut Sunday.
C Taylor Teagarden hit .357 (5-for-14) with two homers and six RBIs in his final three games in the Arizona Fall League.
LHP Matt Harrison threw three scoreless innings in his final AFL start last week. He didn't allow an earned run over his final two starts.
RHP Danny Gutierrez was 2-0 with a 4.08 ERA with 16 strikeouts in six games in the AFL.
