The Rangers officially added RHP Colby Lewis to the 40-man roster on Monday, designating infielder Joe Inglett for assignment. The Rangers picked Inglett up off waivers from Toronto in early December. But with the addition of Khalil Greene, the club feels they have their utility infielder. The Rangers have 10 days to trade, release or outright Inglett to the minor leagues.
The move keeps the Rangers at a full 40-man roster. Texas agreed to terms with the 30-year-old Lewis last week. Lewis was 26-17 with a 2.82 ERA with 369 strikeouts and 46 walks in 55 games (54 starts) during the 2008 and 2009 seasons with the Hiroshima Carp in Japan. He was taken by the Rangers in the first round of the 1999 June draft and has played with Texas, Detroit and Oakland.
