MESA, Ariz. -- Here's a look at six issues from Tuesday at spring training. Special thanks to all of you that joined me for our live in-game chat. It was some lively conversation. Rangers president Nolan Ryan will chat with us tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. Dallas time and we'll have another live in-game chat Friday for the afternoon tilt against the Indians. Some things from today:

1. C.J. Wilson is still in the mix for the No. 5 starting spot. He pitched well on Tuesday, allowing one run on three hits with five strikeouts -- all looking -- in four innings of work. He didn't walk anybody and was in command. He got out of a jam in his final inning and was impressive. More on that here.

2. Neftali Feliz looked very good in his first two innings, but in the third he struggled facing hitters a second time and gave up three runs (all with two outs). Feliz said he was working on his curve ball and changeup and knows that he has to be able to throw the offspeed stuff when hitters key on his fastball. Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux said that will come with experience for Feliz. But at this point, it sure seems Feliz would help this team more in the bullpen. He and Wilson are scheduled to throw 80 pitches (five innings) on March 22. Other game observations are here.

3. Ian Kinsler (high right ankle sprain) is still progressing, but he's at least a week away from playing in games. The Rangers are confident he will get some games in before the season begins, but the timetable of a week from when the injury occurred (Friday) was too optimistic.

4. The right side of Josh Hamilton's face was swollen on Tuesday morning and he was scheduled to see a dentist to help with what the Rangers think is root canal infection. He shouldn't be out but a day or two.

5. Former Ranger outfielder Marlon Byrd and hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo said hello to former teammates and coaches. Byrd talked about his spring training and his thoughts on the Rangers.

6. RHP Scott Feldman is scheduled to start against RHP Ian Snell at 9:05 Dallas time on Wednesday in Peoria. The game is on FSSW and KRLD.
