SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Rangers general manager Jon Daniels sat just above the visiting dugout at Scottsdale Stadium on Monday, watching as C.J. Wilson rebounded from a tough first inning to get through his five scheduled innings of work on Monday. He did so by getting 13 of the final 15 batters he faced.

It was another solid performance in a string of them for Wilson, who is putting together a strong job application for a starting rotation spot.

"You really can't ask for much more than he's done this spring," general manager Jon Daniels said. "We've all been very pleased with his performance. We know which way we're leaning right now, but we'll probably meet later this week. We want to make sure we know the status of everyone else on the club and know the full context of the bullpen, the rest of the rotation before we make that call. I think he's done what he needs to do to show us that he's a legitmate option for us. We just want to make sure we're doing the right thing for the club."

Washington was asked if a case could be made against Wilson as a starter.

"If our need in our bullpen is severe, that would be the only way," Washington said. "He's been doing a great job as a starter. I have to give him credit. We'll find out this week."
