Greenberg: Sale not likely by Opening Day
A source said the timetable is mid-April.
"I've worked on a lot of deals and very rarely do they hit the target date," Greenberg said. "This probably is going to be a couple of weeks past the original date, but that's not unusual. You set a date and you hope to reach it. It's a question of when, not if."
Greenberg is confident everything will be in place before April is over and I can tell you he sure didn't seem worried on the phone. Deadlines have been missed in this process before and his group continued to work and got things done. So we'll wait and see. But it means Greenberg probably isn't throwing out any first pitches on Opening Day.
