Feldman named Opening Day starter

Right-handed pitcher Scott Feldman, a 17-game winner for the club last season, will start on Opening Day against the Toronto Blue Jays, the Texas Rangers announced on Saturday.

The club was lining up its starters in a certain order but altered that on Saturday.

Here's the order heading into the season:

Feldman, RHP Rich Harden, LHP C.J. Wilson, RHP Colby Lewis and LHP Matt Harrison.

So the team is still breaking up the left-handed pitchers, but doing so later in the rotation. ESPNDallas.com's Jim Reeves said the Rangers felt Feldman had earned the Opening Day start based on his 2009 season. More to come later.

Also, the club sent RHPs Elizardo Ramirez and Brandon McCarthy to minor league camp.
