Monday notes: Salty to start vs. Rockies

* Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia will get his first start in an 'A' game this afternoon since suffering muscles spasms between his neck and shoulder just over a week ago (March 21). He's expected to go six innings against the Rockies. Saltalamacchia won't make the trip to Tucson with the Rangers on Tuesday.

* Manager Ron Washington said he'll start playing most of his regulars a full nine innings today as the team moves into final preparations for the season opener next Monday at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

* Ian Kinsler hit in the batting cage with mixed results Sunday, still feeling his injured ankle on certain pitches. He'll go through the same routine again today. The Rangers will want to put him through some mobility and lateral movement drills at some point before starting him in a minor league game. His availability for the season opener looks as if it could come down to a last-minute decision.

* Relievers Darren O'Day and Warner Madrigal continue to work their way back from injuries. O'Day, with a bone bruise on his right elbow, will throw off flat ground today. Madrigal will have a bullpen session on Tuesday.

* Relievers Dustin Nippert, Darren Oliver, Doug Mathis and Neftali Feliz will all throw in minor leagues games against Kansas City minor leaguers Tuesday night.
