ARLINGTON, Texas – The story of the night was obviously C.J. Wilson’s five hitless innings in his final tune-up as a starter.

The highlight was David Murphy’s two-run homer.

Some other things worth noting from the Rangers’ 2-1 exhibition win over the Royals:

*Julio Borbon looks the part of a leadoff hitter. He’s always had the speed. It appears that he’s developed the patience and ability to extend at-bats. He had a pair of eight pitch at-bats in this game, ending the first with an infield single and almost beating out a grounder on the second.

*Good sign for Jarrod Saltalamacchia: He gunned down a wannabe base stealer at second. Bad sign for Salty: 0-for-3, two Ks.

*His first home game at his beloved Ballpark in Arlington didn’t snap Vladimir Guerrero out of his power funk. He hasn’t homered all spring, but he is hitting .333.

*Manager Ron Washington liked what he saw from righty reliever Darren O’Day (right elbow bone bruise) during his BP session: “I saw him hit the glove. I saw the ball coming out of his hand real well. Everything he wanted to do, he did. He even ran some balls up and in on some lefties. He backdoored his breaking ball, pulled the string on a couple and left the mound feeling good. That’s Darren O’Day right there.”
