Oakland lefty Dallas Braden, who played at Texas Tech, just completed a perfect game against the AL East-leading Tampa Bay Rays (yes, the same Rays that White Sox lefty Mark Buehrle pitched a perfect game against last season).
Congrats to Braden. Perfect games are certainly something special. Kenny Rogers' perfect game in 1994 is still one of the most memorable moments in Rangers history. Braden's was the 19th in major league history.
It's worth noting that the Rangers beat Braden earlier this week. Texas managed 11 hits and three runs off him in seven innings. And the very next outing: He gets everybody he faces out -- 27 up, 27 down. Wow.
Interestingly, he did not pitch well against Tampa Bay late last month, surrendering six runs on eight hits in just four innings. But that's all forgotten now.
