HOUSTON -- Ron Washington said the Rangers will bring Nelson Cruz back to the big leagues on Tuesday night vs. the Pirates.

Cruz, on the DL since May 30 with a left hamstring strain, is doing a rehab stint in Oklahoma City. In two games for the RedHawks he's 1-for-6 with two walks. He went 0-for-3 with a walk as the DH on Saturday night. Cruz will play all nine innings in right field today.

"He's doing well," Washington said. "He's hasn't complained about anything, running everything out, looking good in the outfield."

The Rangers have a roster move to make.

When Cruz was put on the DL, Craig Gentry was recalled from Oklahoma City. He's hitting .222 with three RBIs in 10 games since being recalled. The Rangers could send him back down, but one thing the club won't do is move one of their backup infielders.

Joaquin Arias and Andres Blanco are out of options, so Washington said the club will keep two utility infielders. Blanco is starting for Elvis Andrus today at short.

"It's not going to be a pitcher," Washington said. "Gentry needs to play baseball. In the National League, it's fine, but we’re in the American league [after next week]."

Gentry won't get playing time in the outfield when the Rangers return to an AL schedule. Vladimir Guerrero becomes the full-time DH again and David Murphy will become the backup right fielder with Cruz back.
