Molina, who turns 36 on Tuesday, hit .417 with two homers and six RBIs in the three games he played at Fenway Park over the weekend. He hit for the cycle on Friday night, becoming the first catcher to hit a grand slam and the cycle in the same night. He was 4-for-4 and his grand slam came in the fifth inning, helping the Rangers to an 8-4 victory.

Molina was just the fifth Rangers player to hit for the cycle, joining Oddibe McDowell (1985), Mark Teixeira (2004), Gary Matthews Jr. (2006) and Ian Kinsler (2009).

Molina was acquired a few weeks ago in a trade with San Francisco that sent reliever Chris Ray and minor league pitcher Michael Main to the Giants for Molina and cash. The Rangers made the deal because they wanted a veteran catcher who could give them a little more with the bat. Molina certainly did that in Boston.

Molina is the fourth Rangers player to earn player of the week honors. Nelson Cruz won on May 24 and Josh Hamilton and Colby Lewis both shared the honor on June 14.
