ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Though the trade of Cristian Guzman to the Rangers from Washington hasn't been announced yet, it was certainly a topic of conversation in the Rangers' clubhouse. Ian Kinsler, who is on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left groin, said he'll be glad when Guzman arrives.

"I'm real excited," Kinsler said. "He's someone that can come in and do everything you need him to do. He switch hits, plays various positions and is a veteran guy that understands how to play the game. Adding him and Jorge [Cantu] at a time like this is huge for our club."

Kinsler said he was feeling some soreness in the groin before the All-Star break, but that it was still fine to play. He had it checked out before and after the All-Star break. But in the last few days it was decided he should get an MRI, and the doctors saw the strain and didn't want to take any chances.

"It was progressively getting a little bit worse, but nothing I really noticed," Kinsler said. "But after the MRI they said it wasn't something we wanted to mess with. If I continued to play, no one knows how long I would have lasted before I pull it or even if I did pull it. It's just not worth it."

Kinsler said he wants to be optimistic and says he'll serve "15 days of my prison sentence." Kinsler did seem in good spirits and hopes to get back out on the field as soon as possible.
