Ron Washington eager to see how Lee feels
"If we need to be cautious, we will be," Washington said. "But if he feels like he can pitch, he'll pitch. We're not going to run him out there if it's not going to help him."
Lee said Friday that he was sore, but thinks that's more from the trigger point injection he received. He'll know more about how he feels on Saturday.
Other notes:
* Washington said OF Josh Hamilton will play the outfield on Saturday. "I had told Vlad he would get the next two off in Kansas City and I wanted to stick with that," Washington said.
* Washington said he will probably have his pitchers go through fielding practice again on the next road trip. He wanted to be sure they got the chance to go through the fundamentals of it after three pitchers made bad throws in recent games. Reliever Darren O'Day was one of those that enjoyed it and thought it was helpful.
"It's one of those skills that you can forget if you don't do it," O'Day said. "It was good to get out there and make sure we had it down. I think it will help us."
* C Taylor Teagarden won't go into the catching rotation, but Washington said he would get him a few games in September.
* RHP Scott Feldman has one more rehab outing before he can return. The club wants him up to 75 pitches or so.
* The club won't mess with bringing too many more players up until after Triple-A Oklahoma City's season is over. But Willy Tavares, Chris Davis, Doug Mathis and Esteban German will likely get called up at some point.
* Washington plans to use Clay Rapada against certain left-handers. He is holding lefties to a .120 average (11-for-92).
