ARLINGTON, Texas -- Derek Holland went on a fact-finding mission the last few days. After struggling with some consistency issues, Holland talked to Michael Young and Bengie Molina about what he could do better.
"The biggest thing they told me was to go out and pitch with confidence," Holland said. "They said it was all about confidence. That's what I'm trying to do."
Wednesday was an improvement. He came in with a runner at third in a 4-1 game and got two outs to get out of the inning with no further damage done. He gave up a run in the sixth, but after loading the bases, was able to pitch himself out of it.
"He has the stuff to do it," Young said. "He has to go out and believe in what he's doing. He looked good out there today."
Holland said he's not worried about the postseason roster. His focus is pitching better and improving, hoping to have some momentum toward the offseason. Wednesday was a good step in that direction.
