ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- C.J. Wilson's day is over in the seventh inning, but what a first career playoff game for the first-year starting pitcher. Wilson surrendered just two hits and left with a 6-0 lead.

He started the seventh a bit shaky, walking Ben Zobrist and then giving up a double off the center-field wall to Willie Aybar. He came back to strike out Kelly Shoppach on a 3-2 pitch that caught the Fort Worth product looking. Texas manager Ron Washington then came to get the lefty, who had thrown 104 pitches, 65 for strikes.

Wilson struck out seven and walked just two and hit one. He did not allow stolen base. At one point, he retired 10 in a row.

A combination of Darren O'Day and Darren Oliver got out of a bases-loaded situation. Oliver got Jason Bartlett to swing at his first pitch and pop out to center to preserve the shutout.
