Rays strike first for first time this series

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Poor communication between second baseman Ian Kinsler and right fielder Nelson Cruz cost the Texas Rangers a run in the top of the second inning.

Kinsler backpedaled on Matt Joyce's blooper into shallow right. Cruz looked to have a play on it and it was one Cruz needed to make with a runner on third. But, Kinsler took it all the way and dropped it for an error, allowing Carlos Pena to score easily. Pena tripled to deep left-center.

Rangers starter Tommy Hunter limited the damage to one unearned run. Elvis Andrus made a nice play behind second base to get Dan Johnson and B.J. Upton swung and missed at a curve ball to end the inning.
