ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Texas Rangers are finding unconvential ways to score and because of it lead the Tampa Bay Rays 3-1 in Game 5 of their ALDS heading into the bottom of the sixth.
With Vladimir Guerrero on second and Nelson Cruz at first with one out, Ian Kinsler hit a sharp grounder to first. Carlos Pena scooped it and threw to second for the force out, but pitcher David Price was slow to cover first and Kinsler beat the throw at first. Meanwhile, Guerrero, not known for his speed, got to third and kept chugging and narrowly slid under the tag.
Cliff Lee, who has been sharp, now has a two-run lead to work with.
