Bengie Molina rests; Matt Treanor starts

NEW YORK – Game 4 hero Bengie Molina will get the day off.

Ron Washington had planned all along for Matt Treanor to catch C.J. Wilson, as he’s done down the stretch of the regular season and throughout the playoffs. Washington isn’t wavering from that plan despite Molina’s .417 average and five RBI during the ALCS.

“That’s what I’ve been doing all year,” Washington said. “No, it wasn’t [a tough decision].”

The Rangers are sticking with rookie Mitch Moreland at first base against New York lefty ace CC Sabathia. It’s the fourth straight start for Moreland, including two against lefties, but Washington claims he’s still making a game-to-game decision between the left-handed Moreland and struggling righty Jorge Cantu.
