ARLINGTON, Texas -- The rookie, Mitch Moreland, finally came up with a big hit, a three-run homer into the right-field bleachers for a 3-0 lead after two innings.

Moreland battled San Francisco Giants starter Jonathan Sanchez for nine pitches, fouling off four consecutive 2-2 pitches before lining a fastball into the stands. One of those fouls was a shot into the second deck, but in foul territory.

Nelson Cruz started the inning with a line drive off the center-field wall for a double. With two outs, Bengie Molina drew a walk to bring up the nine-hole hitter Moreland, who entered Game 3 batting .342 in the postseason.
