Two calls that went against the Rangers?
The first play occurred in the top of the second. Giants hitter Travis Ishikawa grounded into what looked to be an inning-ending 4-6-3 double play, but first-base umpire Jeff Kellogg called Ishikawa safe. The Giants didn't score in the inning, but it forced Rangers starter Tommy Hunter, who struggled with his pitch count throughout, to throw 11 more pitches to get out of the inning.
Texas manager Ron Washington came out to argue the call, but to no avail.
The second call came on a similar play, but with the Rangers batting in the sixth and trailing 2-0. Elvis Andrus grounded into the 6-4-3 double play. The call at first was extremely close and Kellogg rung him up.
"I thought I was safe," Andrus said. "But, you can't really argue about calls. There's going to be good calls and there's going to be bad calls. As a player, you just got to take it and keep playing."
Had Andrus been ruled safe, it would have safe, the Rangers would have had a runner at first with two outs against Madison Bumgarner, who to that point, had allowed just two hits, with Michael Young and Josh Hamilton due up. Mitch Moreland led off the sixth with a solid single to right.
"Well, it could have kept an inning going," Washington said of the out call. "You never know what would have happened after that, but that's the human nature of calling a ballgame. I thought he missed both them, but there wasn't much you cna do about it."
