Rangers tender offers to five of six players
The club did not tender an offer to RHP Dustin Nippert, who becomes a free agent.
The five players who were tendered join right-hander Frank Francisco, who accepted the Rangers’ arbitration offer Tuesday. Texas has already signed Mark Lowe, another player who had been eligible for arbitration, to a 2011 contract.
Nippert, 29, went 4-5 with a 4.29 ERA in 38 games, which included two starts for Texas in 2010. He recorded at least one strikeout in 18 consecutive relief appearances from April 18-June 9, the second-longest single-season strikeout streak by a reliever in club history. He was on the disabled list from July 20-Sept. 2 with a head contusion suffered July 19 at Detroit.
Nippert was on the club's American League Division Series roster and was added to the World Series roster following an injury to Alexi Ogando in Game 4.
The Rangers now have 39 players on the club's 40-man roster.
