Notes: David Murphy welcomes baby boy

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Rangers outfielder David Murphy left on an afternoon flight Tuesday and arrived in time for the birth of his first son at 3:40 a.m. Dallas time on Wednesday.

The baby weighs 6 pounds, 14 ounces and everyone is doing fine. Murphy is expected to return to camp at some point this weekend.

Other notes:

* The club's first intrasquad game is Thursday. C.J. Wilson is scheduled to start for the home team and Dave Bush for the visitors. The other pitchers in the game:

* Wilson is also slated to start the exhibition opener in Surprise on Sunday against the Royals with Scheppers, Tateyama, Strop, Lowe and Tucker also expected to see time in the game.

* It's another full day of activity here in Surprise under sunny skies. Stretching begins at 11 a.m. Dallas time and the position players will go through drills and take swings against live pitching before going through a normal batting practice.
