SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Top pitching prospect Tanner Scheppers had an MRI exam Friday after aggravating his lower back during his stint in Thursday's split-squad game against the Cubs.
Scheppers allowed four runs on five hits in 2/3 of inning and on Friday said that he felt something in his back three pitches in, but decided to try to fight through the pain.
"It probably wasn't the best decision," Scheppers said, who is trying to crack the Texas Rangers' rotation. "I felt a little pull. Right now I don't know what's going on yet."
The Rangers expect to have results of the MRI later today. Scheppers isn't scheduled to pitch for another four days.
