SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Adrian Beltre will get back on the field Sunday to take some grounders in the field team during drills and he will continue to hit. He will not run, but it is a step in the right direction for the Texas Rangers' key offseason acquisition.
The third baseman and the club has maintained that Beltre, rehabbing from a Grade I calf strain, isn't in jeopardy of missing Opening Day. The team did acknowledge earlier in the week that he will be out longer than the initial 10-to-14-day window that would have had him in spring training games by March 10.
*Team is waiting for Dr. William Keister to arrive in Suprise today and look the results of an MRI exam taken on pitcher Tanner Scheppers' back. The prospect felt tightness in his back early in his start Thursday. He had the MRI Friday.
