GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The line score indicates that Alexi Ogando is much better suited to remain a reliever than he is ready to join the Rangers’ rotation.

After throwing three scoreless innings, Ogando blew the lead in bottom of the eighth in a 7-6 loss Tuesday to the Dodgers. Ogando failed to finish the inning, leaving with two outs after allowing three runs on four singles and a wild pitch in the frame.

“He may have [run out of gas],” manager Ron Washington said. “It’s hot out there, but previous to that, I thought he pounded the strike zone and used his pitches. Then they got him.”

Fatigue wasn’t a factor, according to Ogando, who finished with three earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings. He attributed the three-run inning to bad look, citing broken bats and bloop hits.

Ogando, who went 4-1 with a 1.30 ERA as a rookie reliever last season, said he’d be comfortable as a starter or coming out of the bullpen.

“I’ll just be ready for whatever they call,” Ogando told ESPN Deportes 1540-AM’s Luis Perez in Spanish. “I can’t dictate what’s going to happen. That’s up to them. I’ll be ready.”
