SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Colby Lewis treated the Triple-A Omaha hitters he saw Thursday a lot like the big leaguers he faced during the postseason.

Lewis, the Rangers’ No. 2 starter, cruised through five innings against the Royals’ Triple-A affiliate. He struck out six while allowing two unearned runs on six hits and no walks. He threw 77 pitches (54 strikes) despite the Royals being allowed four outs in two of the innings.

Manager Ron Washington said Lewis, who went 3-0 with a 1.71 ERA during the playoffs last season, spotted his fastball well, kept his slider down and had a good changeup.

“Colby looks ready,” Washington said.
