ARLINGTON, Texas -- Rangers manager Ron Washington said he wasn't ready to announce the opening day lineup for the game against the Boston Red Sox.

Travel schedules and a luncheon delayed Washington from talking to a few people about their roles.

"I haven't quite got to everyone that I need to talk to yet because of our travel," Washington said Thursday before a workout at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. "No, I'm not ready to announce that."

Washington did confirm Julio Borbon will play in the Friday season opener. After that expect: Elvis Andrus, Adrian Beltre, Ian Kinsler, Michael Young, Josh Hamilton and Yorvit Torrealba to play.

One of the issues is who plays first base.

Washington could go with Mitch Moreland or Mike Napoli on opening day.

There is a thought Moreland won't go because of his struggles against left-handed pitching. He hit .200 last season vs. LHP but in spring training he hit .409.

"Moreland can hit lefties," Washington said. "If you don’t see Moreland in there against a left hander, that’s Ron Washington's call."

Boston starts left-hander Jon Lester on Friday.
