Ian Kinsler's leadoff HR makes history

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Ian Kinsler is the first player in Major League history to hit leadoff homers in his team's first two games of the season, aocording to STATS, Inc.

Kinsler hit a 3-1 pitch from Boston's John Lackey in the bottom of the first to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead. He hit a 1-0 pitch from starter Jon Lester in Friday's Opening Day game to give his team an early lead then as well.

Kinsler has hit 15 leadoff homers in his career, a Rangers record. The 28-year-old had nine homers and 45 RBIs in 2010, missing nearly two months because of injuries. The last time he was the primary leadoff hitter was 2009, when he hit a career-high 31 homers and had 86 RBIs.
