The New York Yankees are making their only visit to Arlington. Their last visit was the most memorable for Texas fans, and that was Game 6 of the American League Championship Series when the Rangers advanced to the World Series for the only time in franchise history.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi was a guest on Friday night’s Rangers radio pregame show, and he talked about the lasting impression of that series.
“Just how well they played against us," he said. "They beat us in all facets of the game. I wished Ron [Washington] good luck and their club good luck in the World Series. They played extremely well last year down the stretch, and it’s a very talented club.”
