Frustrating, yes, but not time to panic
Outfielders David Murphy and Mitch Moreland talked about keeping things in perspective following the latest loss at Rangers Ballpark.
“It is frustrating, definitely,’’ said Murphy, who had one of Texas' nine hits. “These moments after the game, we should take time and reflect on what happened. But when we come back tomorrow, we should start fresh.
“There’s a lot of baseball to be played. Even if the team leading the AL West were to lose a few in a row right now, that wouldn’t matter, either, because there’s so much of the season remaining. Really, we could be in a worse spot than where we are.’’
Moreland's home run produced the only run off A’s starter Trevor Cahill.
“In my opinion, we’re putting too much pressure on ourselves,’’ Moreland said. “We’re not that bad off, if we just play our game.
“I think we do a pretty good job of coming in with a clean slate every day, we just need to relax a little more. Last year’s team went through a little lull, too.’’
Moreland’s home run off Cahill on the first pitch of the fifth inning traveled 368 feet and reduced the Oakland lead to 3-1.
“The approach you have to take with him is to stay on the ball and get something up. Everything he throws moves so much,’’ Moreland said.
