Rangers pitcher Brandon Webb threw four innings in an extended spring game Thursday and said he hit 86 mph a handful of times with his fastball, likely averaging around 84 mph.
Webb is scheduled to throw five innings Tuesday in Arizona as he attempts to keep increasing his velocity and work on his mechanics. At some point if he keeps progressing, he'd go out for a rehab assignment, but the Rangers don't have any timetable on that at this time.
Webb has been working with Keith Comstock, the club's pitching rehab coordinator, on his mechanics and trying to find some more velocity. Throughout the process, Webb's shoulder has felt fine.
