FRISCO, Texas -- Double-A Frisco outfielder Leonys Martin was scratched from Tuesday's 1-0 Frisco win over Midland with a sore left ring finger. He's scheduled to get an X-ray later today, but does not think it's broken. He's listed as day-to-day.
Martin injured the finger diving headfirst into second base in Monday's game. He tried to swing a bat on Tuesday, but felt some soreness when he tried to grip the bat.
"It's just sore," Martin said through a translator. "It's no big deal. I've done it before."
Asked if he'd consider not sliding headfirst into second, Martin smiled and said he couldn't help it.
"I don't think about it, I just go," Martin said. "I do whatever the game tells me."
Martin, 23, signed a five-year deal worth $15.5 million with a $5 million signing bonus last week. The deal includes a spot on the 40-man roster.
