ARLINGTON, Texas -- White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski’s pursuit of a foul ball landed him face to face with former President George W. Bush at Rangers Ballpark.
Pierzynski pursued a foul ball near the Rangers’ dugout in the sixth inning. The White Sox catcher reached around a protective screen between him and the ball and thrust his glove in the direction of the ball, but missed.
The ball appeared to come close to hitting the former president.
The first row of seats behind the screen was occupied by the former president and first lady as well as club president Nolan Ryan and his wife.
