Peavy (1-0, 2.40 ERA): The 6-1, 195-pound 29-year-old from Mobile, Ala., will be making his third start of the season. He was reinstated from the disabled list on May 11 following his recovery from surgery to repair a detached latissimus dorsi muscle in his right posterior shoulder. He is coming off a complete-game shutout of Cleveland on May 18. He allowed three hits while striking out eight, throwing 111 pitches. It was his ninth career complete game and his fifth shutout. Peavy lost his only career start at Rangers Ballpark on April 28, 2010. He is one of seven White Sox pitchers to not walk a batter in his first two starts of the season and the first since 2001. Only one White Sox pitcher has not walked a batter in his first three starts, John Whitehead in 1939. Opponents are hitting .500 against him with runners in scoring position.
Hitters: Alex Rios had a hit in his only at-bat against Holland. Josh Hamilton is batting .429 with a home run in seven at-bats against Peavy. Elvis Andrus is 2-of-4. Adrian Beltre (32 at-bats) and Yorvit Torrealba (25 at-bats) have had the most looks at Peavy among the Rangers.
