The Rangers are busy making selections on Day 2 of the MLB Draft and we'll update you periodically on how they are doing. Through the fifth round, the Rangers have taken pitchers and outfielders. Here's an update:
Round 2 (83 overall): Will Lamb, a 6-foot-6, 175-pound outfielder/LHP. He was 1-1 with a 5.11 ERA. He had 29 strikeouts and 11 walks in 24 2/3 innings. He was also a big hitter for the Clemson Tigers as a junior in 2011, hitting .348 in 59 games.
Round 3 (113 overall): Kyle Castro, 6-foot-4, 190-pound right-handed pitcher from Pleasant Grove High School in California that throws in the low 90s. He's a versatile athlete as this story shows.
Round 4 (144 overall): Outfielder Desmond Henry, mainly a center fielder, from Centennial High School in Compton, Calif. He's a speedy, athletic outfielder.
* TCU's Matt Purke was drafted by Washington 96th overall.
* Pittsburgh rolled the dice on Josh Bell, who seems firmly committed to Texas, with the first pick of the second round.
