Holland (5-1, 4.41 ERA): In his last start, Holland gave up four runs on eight hits in 7 1/3 innings in a loss to the Twins. Holland got a no-decision as the Twins won late off the Rangers' bullpen. He matched his career-high in strikeouts with 10. ...So far, his June has been better than May. Though it's only two starts, Holland has pitched at least into the eighth inning in both of them. Against the Indians, he pitched a complete-game shutout on five hits. Holland was 1-0 with a 4.81 ERA in May. ...He has not enjoyed pitching against the Yankees in 2011. In two starts, Holland is 0-1 with a 7.59 ERA to go along with seven walks and nine strikeouts. New York has batted .286 against him. In his career, Holland has gone 0-3 with an 8.61 ERA in five games (four starts) vs. NYY, including 0-3 with an 8.31 ERA in four starts. ...He did toss 5 2/3 innings of scoreless relief against the Yankees in the 2010 ALCS, including 3 2/3 shutout innings to get the Game 4 win in relief of Tommy Hunter (Rangers won 10-3).
Nova (5-4, 4.30 ERA): He's coming off one of his better starts in 2011, allowing two runs on four hits in seven innings with three walks and six strikeouts in a win over the Indians last week. ...Nova has quality starts in three of his last four outings despite walking six in those starts and allowing 23 hits. ...He has faced Texas twice this season and is 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA with six walks and four strikeouts. Nova's win came in Arlington on May 6. He lost to the Rangers at Yankee Stadium on April 15 after giving up five runs on four hits in 4 1/3 innings.
