NEW YORK -- Nelson Cruz was watching video of his recent at-bats on Wednesday and saw something he knew was wrong.
"I was landing on my foot and then leaning forward," Cruz said. "I wasn't staying back."
Cruz went to the cages for some extra work on Wednesday and said he felt better about it.
"I'll have to keep working on it, but it helped," Cruz said.
Cruz's struggles at the plate continued on Wednesday as he was 0-for-4 and is now 0-for-18 with 10 strikeouts in his last five games. He is also 2-for-29 with just one RBI (a solo homer in Minnesota) in his last seven games to see his average dip to .221
"All you can do is keeping hitting and keep trying to improve," Cruz said.
Cruz will apply some of those tweaks to his swing again on Thursday in the hopes of getting things figured out.
