Harrison, Cahill duel under Texas sun

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Matt Harrison needed to be sharp, and through four innings, the Rangers’ left-hander had permitted only two Oakland hits.

The Rangers and A’s were scoreless after four innings in the final game before the All-Star break. Rangers Ballpark temperature at game time was 98 degrees.

With Trevor Cahill’s history of excellence against the Rangers, Harrison had to realize he couldn’t afford to make many mistakes today. Through four innings, Harrison had walked one and struck out four.

The first Oakland hit by Kurt Suzuki in the second inning was a slow roller on which third baseman Adrian Beltre had no play.

Josh Willingham took a Harrison delivery to the opposite field for a sharp single in the fourth.

The Rangers had four hits -- singles by Ian Kinsler, Nelson Cruz and David Murphy and a double by Elvis Andrus -- off Cahill through four innings. Texas was 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position.
