Matt Harrison starts the final game for the Texas Rangers before the all-star break. His second to last start before the all-star break was his 16th which surpassed his previous career high for starts in a season. The lefty is in his fourth major league season.
“It means a lot. I guess I was pretty much a dark horse coming into spring training in making the rotation, and I was able to do that,” Harrison said. “So far, I have been able to stay in there and stay healthy this year. I think that was the main thing.”
Harrison was a guest on Rangers Baseball Tonight heard minutes before the first pitch on the Texas Rangers ESPN Radio Network, but it was recorded the day before his start. Harrison talked about his first half of 2011, C.J. Wilson, wearing long sleeves on a 98-degree day and more.
