Michael Young and his wife, Cristina, announced this week that they have started the Michael Young Family Foundation, a charity organization. And their first event is a celebrity BaseBOWL tournament on Sunday, Sept. 11 (after the Rangers game, of course) at 300 Dallas Bowling Lanes in Addison.
The Young family has been involved in local, national and international charities for years. Young was recognized for that work in 2008, winning the Marvin Miller Man of the Year Award, which is awarded to the player with outstanding achivement on and off the field. But now Young and his wife are starting their own foundation.
"Starting this foundation is something Michael and I have been talking about for years," Cristina Barbosa-Young said. "The mission of this foundation is to improve children's health. Whether it's physical, social, mental or educational, it gives greater flexibility to impact children's lives on a broader scale."
Sponsorships are available for the bowling tournament. For more information, please contact Kimberly Crossett at 310-‐525-3755.
