Nelson Cruz left the game after the fourth inning due to a tight left quadriceps muscle. Endy Chavez came off the bench to take his spot in the lineup. David Murphy moved from left to right field, and Josh Hamilton moved from center to left. A strained right quadriceps muscle put Cruz on the disabled list in May.
*Cruz snapped a scoreless game when he led off the second inning with his 23rd home run for his 69th RBI. On the recent homestand, Cruz was 13-for-29 (.448).
*Michael Young has an eight-game hitting streak and had his team-leading 41st multiple-hit game of the season. He doubled in the fourth and singled in the sixth.
*Mike Napoli led off the ninth inning with his 14th home run. He has driven in 36 runs.
*Ian Kinsler was 0-for-5 and is now 0-for-19 in the last four games.
*Brett Cecil’s stretch of 10 scoreless innings against the Rangers ended with the home run from Cruz. Cecil pitched seven innings of seven-hit ball on Friday night.
*Alexi Ogando faced the Blue Jays for the third time this season. He worked six innings on April 28 in Arlington but did not receive a decision. He took the loss after going 6 2/3 innings in Arlington on July 24. Kansas City is the other team Ogando has made three starts against this season.
*Ogando gave up a three-run home run to J.P. Arencibia in the fifth inning. It was the 11th home run he gave up this season. Ogando’s night ended after 5 2/3 innings. He set a career high with four walks.
*Former Rangers right-hander Frank Francisco faced four Rangers in a scoreless eighth inning.
